Big City Life

Josh and I just got back from a 5 day trip to Washington, D.C. to visit Matt and Wendi (you read right...NO KIDS!!) After a long day of travel on Friday we woke up early Saturday morning to go to the battle of bull run and the air and space museum. Wendi and I even found some time for shopping while the kids (and husbands) napped and ended the day with a delicious dinner and running through fountain (well just Abbey).
Wendi and I woke up early on Sunday and went for a jog (it was already 80 degrees and humid as heck at 7:30 am!!) Matt made some delicious breakfast sandwiches (thanks Matt) and we all got ready for a big day at Mount Vernon to see George Washington's home. We waited FOREVER to see his house and were all sweating to death...but there was still more to do! So we took a nice drive to the little town of Alexandria (more shopping!) and of course more eating as well. Wendi cooked dinner that night and we got the girls down for a little earlier bed time, and then we watched a movie and ate ice cream! YUM!On Monday Matt took us to the metro at 8:00 and Josh and I headed into the city. We started at Starbucks and walked to ALL the sights: US Treasury, The White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WWII Memorial, Jefferson Memorial....keep in mind it was about 100 degrees today and humid (I was SOAKED!) We took a break from outdoor activities and headed to the Holocaust museum and the Museum of Natural History. Josh and I had some lunch and met up with the Samples' in town. We went to the National Archives (to see the declaration of independence among other historic documents) and to the Museum of American History. But that is not where the fun ended...Matt and Wendi even took us to the National's game that night! We had awesome seats behind left field and Josh and Matt were even chosen for some gametime entertainment and were on the JUMBO-TRON throwing hotdogs! It was classic.
Tuesday was our travel day home, Wendi took us to the airport and I slept almost on every flight! We had such an amazing time and didn't want our trip to end! Love you guys and thanks again for everything!!

B is for "ballet"

On Saturday Aubrey had her first ballet recital. It sure was a lot of work for a two and a half minute performance! We had to arrive at the park at 5:00 and Aubs didn't even dance until around 7:30, not to mention the hour or so earlier that day for rehersal! It was a good thing we had lots of help to keep the kids entertained, they really liked watching all of the other dancers as well. Here are some pics, video hopefully will be coming soon!

"C" is for Circus

Nana and Papa decided to take the whole gang to the Shriner's Circus this past weekend! When I say whole gang...I mean Aubs, Jack, Josh, Me, Brennen, Brother, and Heather! It was so much fun and I can't believe how much the kids enjoyed it! Jack was just mesmerized by all the sights and smells (elephant poo)! There were singing pics, contortionists, a man juggling giant planters on his head, ariel artists, dogs, clowns, elephants, and even the giant wheel of death! The guy seriously almost died while trying to jump rope on top of this wheel as it was spinning around the big tent....scary!! Thanks Nana and Papa...we love you!!!

PS sorry for the complete lack of pics but I was in the back row and didn't have the best angle on the kids!
Jack and Aubs in the car on the way...they were both so excited!!
And on his farm he had a pig, E-I-E-I-O, with an oink oink here....
The wheel of death
Jack watching the dogs doing tricks....he LOVES dogs!

TOO LONG!

Alright, so it has been way too long since I have updated everyone...SORRY!

Lately we have all been fighting off getting sick, and Jack has lost the battle. We took him to the urgent care last Wednesday night because his cough was starting to sound like a dog. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis (basically a nasty cold that is in the lungs) and a right ear infection. Now the little guy is on antibiotics (zithromax since he just had amoxicillin for an ear infection last month!), albuterol in his nebulizer, and prednisone (a steroid). The sad thing is that even with all of this stuff he still doesn't seem to be getting much better. He is super cuddly and will even fall asleep in our arms....NOT OUR NORMAL LITTLE GUY!!! If he isn't better by Tuesday I think we will be making a trip to see Dr. Ello to make sure he is okay.

On a happier note, Aubrey started ballet today. This begins an 18 week long adventure that will end with a recital in June! Aubs is surely going to be the next Clara! We stopped off by Auntie Bwittney's house before class for some quick photos...they turned out so cute. I cannot believe how big my little girl is getting. The funniest thing is that she LOVES to stand on her TOES (she curls her toes under and stands ON them!! OUCH!)
Well, I guess that is all for now. Hope everyone is doing well.
